Construction Accident Claims

Statistically speaking construction sites are one of the most dangerous places to work whether as an employee of a building company, or alternatively when working as a sub-contractor and where overall site safety rests with a main contractor/developer.

The construction company/main contractor therefore must ensure that all people working on the construction site have adequate training and they are properly licensed to operate certain types of equipment.
If they have any concerns regarding this, then the worker should not be allowed on site.

By the very nature of how accidents occur on construction sites, some of the injuries sustained can be severe and even fatal. Serious accidents will trigger a health and safety investigation, and health and safety executives have the power to prosecute when necessary.

Common types of construction site accidents

The risk of injury on a construction site is so great that there are unique safety regulations which govern workplace safety in the area. Provisions are made for workers to take regular breaks from their instructed tasks as accidents can arise through loss of concentration.

Where possible, the employer should avoid the risk of a construction worker being exposed to  dangerous materials. For example, demolition activities where older buildings are taken apart/destroyed may involved handling dangerous materials such as asbestos. When these regulations have not been met, and risks have not been adequately prevented, accidents easily occur.

We have found the most common type of construction site accidents to include falling from heights such as scaffolding or ladders; workers being struck by items falling from heights such as pieces of masonry or dropped tools. Injuries can also arise from dangerous working practices being adopted by other workers or sub-contractors.

Construction Accidents Compensation

In our experience construction workers do not get paid by their employer when they are unable to work and it is important that we not only win the case for you quickly, but also that any financial hardship experienced is kept to a minimum.

Case Studies

Heavy Object Injury

We act for a  Mr P of Kent who was employed as an advanced scaffolder when he had an accident on a construction site involving a heavy object falling from a height striking him on his safety helmet and suffering a serious head injury.

The claimant has not been able to work since, and we have thus far obtained over £50,00.00 for loss of earnings as the  physical neurological of psychological effects of the accident are still the subject of investigation by various medico-legal experts.

A large six figure settlement is anticipated in the not too distant future.

Scaffold Tower Collapse

Mr H was employed by the defendant and was crushed by a scaffold tower which had collapsed onto the claimant. The claimant suffered significant facial injuries and injuries to his back.

We secured a early admission of fault from the claimants employer and recovered over £40,000 in compensation.
