Slip & Trip Claims

The statistics for accidents claims tell us that slips and trips are amongst the most common causes of non fault injury. These claims can arise from poorly maintained pavements which are the responsibility of a council or Highway Authority.

However slipping claims can also be brought against shops and owners of shop premises where individuals slip on a floor that has recently been cleaned, or alternatively where products have fallen off the shelves and have not been cleaned up promptly.

Supermarkets are required to operate a system of cleaning and inspection. This regime must be monitored and recorded by the shop management and where safety guidelines and best practice are not followed, there may be grounds for a claim against the supermarket.

Typically slips and trips can result in jarring injuries to the back, neck, legs and ankles. However in serious cases victims of slipping accidents have been known to bang their heads and sustain concussion and head injuries.

Slip & Trip Compensation Case Study

We represented a Mr L. who,  when walking to his local shop, tripped and fell over a poorly maintained section of paving.

We successfully argued that the council were at fault and Mr L. recovered damages of several thousand pounds.
